A lot of mothers have either looked the other way or coddled their sons when they exhibit violent behavior.
DeShawn Isabelle’s mother had to make a decision when surveillance pictures clearly showed her 15-year-old son sexually assault, beat and rob a 41-year-old woman on a CTA train in Oak Park, IL. After seeing the photos she confronted her son and then turned him in to authorities last Wed.
The details of the assault are disturbing due to DeShawn’s age and the fact that there was a high chance sexual assault would have escalated to murder– if his mother didn’t turn him in.
The 41-year-old woman & DeShawn were the only people on the train last Monday when DeShawn walked up from behind the woman and started punching her in the head. He kept on punching her as she was laying on the floor in a fetal position to protect herself.
He then raped her, sat on her head and continued to beat her. Deshawn then stole 2,000 dollars she was planning to send to her family in Asia. He also stole her iPhone.
The woman finally got off the train & pushed the emergency button but not before DeShawn held her down, stomped, kicked and punched her.
DeShawn spent the 2,000 on junk food, clothes and used the rest for graduation fees. He is being held on 1 million dollars bail on the felony charges of aggravated sexual assault and robbery. He will also be charged as an adult.
Even though she turned him in — Deshawn’s mom didn’t appreciate the way Assistant State’s Attorney Joe DiBella was talking about her son.
